John Avocado grew up in Yorkshire, UK and after a brief time living in Germany and back in the UK he set on a life on the high seas, living and working aboard ships based in various ports in the United States and sailing in the Caribbean and to the Mexican Riviera.
In 2012 he settled with his boyfriend in Sydney, Australia, navigating the bureaucracy of various visa and citizenship applications. Although a citizen of Australia, and viewing Australia as a permanent home, John’s past has involved itchy feet – and the future may involve new overseas adventures too!
John speaks English and German (though quite rusty nowadays) and is currently learning Chinese. He is single, proudly queer, and lives alone in a studio apartment in one of the most gloriously multicultural suburbs in Sydney.
